System glitches and hang-ups can make using your RCA DVD player a hassle. Before scrapping your DVD player or taking it to a repair person, try restoring the player to its factory settings to see if that resolves your problem. Some minor system hiccups can be set straight by a factory reset, which wipes out all of the information from the system's memory and restores it from a backup. You can reset your RCA DVD player in a few minutes.

Step 1

Press "Setup" on the remote control that came with the RCA DVD player to open an onscreen menu.

Step 2

Highlight "Default" using the arrow buttons on the DVD player's remote control and then press "Enter."

Step 3

Highlight "Use Default Settings" and then press "Enter." A message appears on the screen warning you that the RCA DVD player will be restored to its original factory settings and that any changes you've made to the device's settings will be lost.

Step 4

Highlight "OK" and then press "Enter." A progress bar appears on the screen displaying the status of the reset. After the status bar fills up, the RCA DVD player restarts. Upon successfully rebooting, the DVD player's factory settings are restored.
