How to Reset the Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall to Factory Defaults

If you're using the Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall device to protect the security of your computer network, you can configure it according to the needs of your network, making changes to such settings as filter rules, load balancing and access rules. If your configuration gets too complicated, or if the system doesn't seem to be working properly, you might want to reset the Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall and restore it to its factory defaults.

Instructions

1. Make sure that your Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall device is powered on, as well as the computer that's connected to it.

2. Click "File" and then "Reset Device to the Factory Default Configuration" in the "Adaptive Security Device Manager" graphical interface on the computer connected to your Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall device.

3. Click "OK." This restores the ASA 5505 to factory default settings.
