How to Open Word 2007

Microsoft Word 2007 is the primary document editor and viewer for the Microsoft Office 2007 software program. Word 2007 introduced many new features over Word 2003, including a new document filetype known as "Docx." There are a couple of ways you can open Microsoft Word 2007. The easiest method is by using your Windows start menu. Opening Word 2007 allows you to create a new Word 2007 document.

      Click on the Windows start button, and then click "All Programs" at the bottom.

      Locate and click the folder named "Microsoft Office." This expands the Microsoft Office folder and lets you view the programs.

      Click "Microsoft Office Word 2007" inside the Microsoft Office folder. After a few seconds, you'll see the Word load screen. The program will then start.

      Click on the Windows start button and place your cursor in the "Search" box for an alternate method. Type "winword" into the box and press "Enter" on your keyboard. Microsoft Word 2007 will automatically open.

  • You can also open Microsoft Word 2007 by clicking on a Word document. If the document file is not a "Doc" or "Docx" file, right-click on the file and select "Open With>Microsoft Word 2007."
