How to Rip DVDs to MP4 Files
The MPEG-4 (MP4) video format, a file type developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group, uses separate compression for audio and video tracks. Video is compressed with MPEG-4 encoding, while audio is compressed via AAC encoding allowing the files to be readable in a variety of media players. If you are looking to create an MP4 file from a DVD, you can extract the audio and video by ripping the DVD to your computer using DVD-ripping software.
