How to Make 3-D Pictures in Adobe Photoshop

Advertisers and website designers are always looking for new or clever ways to create images that will catch viewers' eyes long enough for them to notice whatever message they are trying to convey. While these efforts can involve Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) animations or interactive Flash, there are simpler ways to create visually arresting imagery. One approach is to give a 3-D effect to a person in an otherwise ordinary photograph.

Instructions

    • 1

Transfer the photo or other image that you would like to add a 3-D effect to onto your computer, saving it where you can easily find it.

    • 2

Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog that appears, browse to the image that you want to work with and open it.

    • 3

Select the "Quick Selection" tool from the toolbar and use it to click on the canvas to select the area around the person in the photo. If you select too much, change the tool to "Subtract" and remove the extra bit.

    • 4

Select "Filter" from the menu and choose "Blur." From the options, choose "Gaussian Blur." In the dialog that appears, set the "Radius" to three and click "OK."

    • 5

Select "Filter" from the menu and choose "Blur." From the options, choose "Radial Blur." In the dialog that appears, set the "Amount" to 30, the "Blur Method" to "Zoom" and the "Quality" to "Best." Click "OK." Save your work.
