How to String Rosary Beads
Many of the world's religious and spiritual traditions use beads to facilitate prayer. Catholics, Eastern-rite churches and other Christian denominations use rosary beads. The name "rosary" comes from the Latin "rosarium," which translates as "rose garden." According to JSBeads.com, some claim the rosary has ancient roots. St. Paul of Thebes counted his prayers from a bag with 300 small stones. Once made of 15 decades--sets of 10 "Hail Mary" beads, contemporary rosaries have five decades. Each decade symbolizes a set of mysteries. Meditate on the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious mysteries on assigned days of the week.
