How to Synchronize the Web-Based Calendar in Outlook

Programs provided by online calendar services can keep Outlook in sync.

Online calendar applications like Google, Yahoo! and Windows Live can be kept in sync with Microsoft Outlook, enabling you to access your schedule from within the Outlook interface or from any Internet-connected device through the calendar application online interface. While Microsoft Outlook does not provide support for synchronizing Web-based calendars out of the box, software plug-ins developed by Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft can provide sync capabilities with very little set up.

Things You'll Need

• Online calendar account with Windows Live, Google or Yahoo!

Instructions

Windows Live Calendar

1. Download Outlook Connector from Microsoft (see Resources).

2. Double-click the installation file to initiate set up of the Outlook Connector.

3. Click "Next" to begin installation.

4. Enter your Windows Live user name and password and type a name for your account and then press "OK." Outlook Connector will synchrnize your Windows Live calendar to the calendar application in Outlook allowing you to fully manage your Windows Live calendar from within Outlook.

Google Calendar

1. Download Google Calendar Sync from Google.

2. Double-click the installation file to initiate set up of Google Calendar Sync.

3. Click "I Agree" to accept the license agreement and continue with installation.

4. Enter your Google Calendar user name and password and select your synchronization preference and then click "Save." Google Calendar Sync will synchronize your Google Calendar to the Outlook Calendar. In order for sync to continuously work, Google Calendar Sync needs to be running from the system tray.

Yahoo! Calendar

1. Download Yahoo! Sync from Yahoo!. The download link is located at the bottom right of the Yahoo! downloads page.

2. Double-click the installation file to initiate set up of Yahoo! Sync.

3. Click "Accept" to agree to the license agreement and continue with installation.

4. Select "Calendar" as one of the synchronization options and configure the sync according to your preferences and then click "Next."

5. Configure the sync schedule according to your preferences and then click "Next."

6. Enter your Yahoo! Calendar user name and password and then click "Next." Click "Finish" to begin your first synchronization between Yahoo! Calendar and Outlook. The Outlook calendar will be kept in sync with Yahoo! as long as the Yahoo! Sync program is running.
