Cleaning a Natural Gas Glass Fireplace

Cleaning a Natural Gas Glass Fireplace thumbnail
A fireplace can be a source of heat in the wintertime.

Many traditional wood fireplaces have been replaced with natural gas fireplaces. All you need to do is flick a switch to get a natural gas fire started, and between fires, cleaning up your fireplace is far less complicated because large amounts of smoke and soot are not created by the natural gas. However, it's still important to properly care for, maintain and clean your fireplace, which you can do with basic household cleaning products. If your natural gas fireplace has glass doors, clean them appropriately to ensure that your fireplace not only operates properly, but looks great at the same time. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn off the gas valve on your natural gas fireplace before you start cleaning the glass. Wait until the glass doors are cool before you start cleaning for best results and to avoid possible injury.

    • 2

Vacuum up any debris around the glass doors.

Spray a window cleaner onto the glass area of your natural gas fireplace. A standard window cleaner is strong enough to clean the glass. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as they can damage the surface.
