How to Install a Large Pond Liner
The hardest part of installing a large pond liner will be digging the hole. Once you have that part of this project done, the installation itself is a relatively easy process. Each pond liner is installed basically the same way. Since any pond liner used for a large pond will be both long and wide, it may be wise to ask for the help of some family and friends. Performing this task on a day with little to no wind will also save you time. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Open the pond liner all the way. Carefully cover the hole you dug with the liner. Do not pull the liner tight over the hole. Allow gravity to pull it slightly down. Place bricks or large rocks around the edges of the pond liner to help hold it in place.

2
Begin slowly filling the pond with water using a garden hose. Straighten out any large creases that may form as the liner stretches (some creases will be unavoidable). The pressure from the water will cause the liner to automatically contour to the shape of the hole you dug.

Stop filling the pond when the water is approximately 2 inches from the top. Trim off the excess liner with a pair of scissors, leaving approximately 6 inches all the way around the edge. Install the pump, filter and any electrical lighting you've planned for your pond's design, and then finish filling the pond.
