1
Contact tire retreading or recapping shops in your area. Ask each shop if they pay for old tires and how much you can get for passenger tire casings and truck tire casings. Don't forget to ask how many tires they buy at a time and what kinds of limits they have.
-
2
Visit local gas stations, repair shops and tire dealers to collect old tires, often called casings. These places usually have to pay for someone to haul away the tires, so by taking them for free, you are providing a valuable service.

3
Choose old tires that have no excessive wear and no cuts, tears or holes whatsoever in the casing. These are the tires you'll be able to sell. At first, you may miss some tears or try to sell tires that are too worn out, but you will get better at recognizing quality casings over time.
-
4
Take the old tires you collect to the retreading or recapping shops that offer the most money for the tires. The shops will examine the tires and let you know how many they're willing to purchase from you. Let the shop know upfront that you don't want unaccepted tires back so you don't have to haul them to the dump.
-
5
Keep track of all your expenses. The money you earn selling tires is taxable, but the expenses you incur while doing so, including miles on your car, are tax deductible.
