  • Cup or small bowl
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda

      Remove all items from the dishwasher. Make sure no dirty or clean dishes, cups or silverware are in the dishwasher.

      Fill a cup or small bowl with white vinegar. Place the cup or bowl on the bottom rack of the dishwasher.

      Close the lid of the dishwasher. Set it on the hottest setting possible and allow the dishwasher to run a full cycle. The steam from the hot water and the vinegar will clean and deodorize the inside of your dishwasher.

      Sprinkle a cup of baking soda on the bottom of your dishwasher; this step may be used as an alternative. Close the door, set the dishwasher to the hottest water temperature available and press start.
