Instructions

    • 1

Fill your jar with items that will weight the lamp and make it stable while it is in use. Ideas for filling materials include layers of colored sand, seashells, marbles, dry noodles, ball bearings, rocks, beads or anything else that will look intriguing inside the glass jar.

    • 2

Screw the lamp kit base onto the top of your jar. These kits are made with the wiring coming out of the base of the socket, so you don't have to worry about drilling a hole into the glass and ruining the jar. Hand-tighten the base.

    • 3

Insert a light bulb with the appropriate wattage into the lamp kit socket. The kit lists the amount of wattage that the socket can hold. You can try different-colored bulbs for a unique effect or a low-wattage bulb for use as a nightlight.

    • 4

Place the lampshade on top by pressing the wire supports over the light bulb until it snaps in place. Straighten it to be perpendicular with the jar. Plug in the lamp to test it. Place the jar lamp in a safe place out of the reach of small children.
