How to Upload Photos Quickly

How to Upload Photos Quickly thumbnail
Image size and connection speed affect photo uploads.

People are often fustrated and confused as to why it sometimes takes so long to upload photos to various web sites. The main factors in a photograph's upload speed include image size, Internet connection speed, and Internet traffic. There are ways, however, to improve the upload speed for your photographs.

Instructions

    • 1

Call your Internet Service Provider. Ask what the speed of your connection is and what your options are for improving speed. If you suspect that the website you're uploading to is busy, try again later.

    • 2

Check the image size settings on your camera. If you don't mind photos of a slightly lesser quality, set your photos to something less than 2 MP.

    • 3

Download and install the program "Quick JPEG Image Resize and Crop." (See References 1) This is a photo resizing tool that is quick and easy to use. This program will make your photo files smaller, which will improve your uploading speed.

    • 4

Open the "Quick JPEG Image Resize and Crop" program and click and drag your photos onto the program. Then adjust your photo settings in the "Customize" section in the bottom left-hand corner. Then crop and set you quality settings to your desired preferences.

    • 5

Click "Save As" or "Save as File with _rsz Appended" once your photo is set to your specifications.

    • 6

Upload your photos to your preferred site, using the resized photo you created with the "Quick JPEG Image Resize and Crop" program. Your photo uploading speed should now be greatly increased and you'll be able to add more photos quickly.
