How to Enable a WiFi Adapter

If a WiFi adapter has been disabled within your operating system, it hasn't been uninstalled. The hardware still exists inside your computer and the software to run the hardware is still installed. It has essentially been "turned off," at least as far as your operating system is concerned. You can turn the WiFi adapter back on again and get your wireless network connection back up and running by using Microsoft's Network and Sharing Center.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on the "Network" task bar icon on your desktop.

    • 2

Select "Open Network and Sharing Center."

    • 3

      Click on "Change Adapter Settings."

    • 4

Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select "Enable." Your Wi-Fi adapter is now enabled.
