More gaming opportunities are available for PlayStation 3, or PS3, users online. Online PS3 gamers can play some of their favorite games against users all over the world. You can also browse the Internet through a PS3. The PS3 can connect to the Internet directly with an Ethernet cable, or connect indirectly via wireless Internet. To connect wirelessly, you must already have a router connected to both a computer and a broadband or DSL Internet modem.

      Power on the PS3 and TV.

      Select "Settings" in the PlayStation 3 home screen. Press the "X" button on the PS3 remote.

      Choose "Network Settings." Press the "X" button.

      Select "Yes" when notified that any current Internet connection will be terminated. Press "X."

      Choose "Easy" as the configuration option. Press the right navigation button.

      Select "Wireless" and press "X."

      Choose "Scan" and confirm it with the "X" button.

      Select which network, or access point, you want to connect to if multiple options are available. Press the "X" button.

      Choose the necessary security settings. This is optional. Press the right navigation button.

      Enter the network key, if necessary. Press the right navigation button.

      Press the "X" button to save settings. Select to test the Internet connection when prompted. Press "X" again. After the connection test is completed, the PS3 will be connected to the Internet wirelessly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set up the wireless router. Insert the Ethernet cable from the Internet modem into the "WLAN/WAN/Internet" port on the rear of the Internet router. Insert another Ethernet cable from one of the numbered ports on the Internet router and insert it into the Ethernet port on the computer. Follow the router instructions to complete setup. You may need to insert an installation disc.
