Do you have a difficulty remembering birthdays? Although a person's birthday is only once a year, sometimes daily challenges and busy schedules interfere with our memory. Sometimes we forget to write a loved one's birthday on a calendar. Other times, we write the birthday on the calendar but still forget it. There are many email programs and calendar applications we can use to create birthday reminders. However, anyone can access a universal calendar, regardless of the computer system, through Gmail's calendar application.

How to Make a Birthday Reminder

1. 

   Go to Gmail

   If you already have a Gmail account, go to Step 2. Otherwise, go to Gmail.com's homepage and create an account by entering your first and last name, desired login, password, security question and birthday. Read the terms of service, accept and create account.

2. 

   Complete the form.

   Click on calendar at top left of screen inside your Gmail account. Click "Create event." Click to add title. Type the person's name (e.g., mom's birthday). Click on the date and enter the birthday. Click "All day," click "Repeat" and change the frequency to "Yearly." Click "Done."

3. 

   Add Email Reminders

   Click "Add Reminder." Choose whether you want to be emailed sometime before the birthday or if you want to have a pop-up on your Gmail account as a reminder. Multiple reminders can be set by clicking "Add a reminder."

4. 

   Birthday Reminders are Saved

   Click "Save. You should now receive future emails according to the reminder settings you selected.

Tips & Warnings

• If you do not use Gmail as your primary email account, then you should forward your Gmail emails to your primary account.

• If you change email accounts, remember to forward your email.
