How to Convert AVI Files to BUP and VOB Files

How to Convert AVI Files to BUP and VOB Files thumbnail
Several file types are created when you burn a DVD from an AVI file.

An .avi file is a common video file format, compatible with many media player applications. Using an .avi file to burn a DVD image will create a number of different files, including .vob (which stores video and audio information), .ifo (which instructs the DVD player on how to play the video), and .bup (which is a backup format of an .ifo file). An .avi file can be converted to DVD format using an appropriate software application.

Instructions

    • 1

Use Avi2Dvd (free, see Resources section). This program is compatible with Windows operating system versions through Windows 7. You can also add subtitles to the video.

    • 2

Convert the files with Leawo DVD Creator (free trial, see Resources). This application contains menu templates and video editing tools to allow you to customize your DVD. You can either output the finished DVD by burning it to disc or by creating an .iso image file.

    • 3

Download WinAVI (free trial, see Resources) to convert the files. This software gives you several physical or virtual output options for the finished DVD, allowing you to either burn it to disc or create a virtual image file of the finished product.
