How to Add Movies to an iPod Classic

How to Add Movies to an iPod Classic thumbnail
The iPod classic allows you to watch movies on the go.

The iPod classic continues to keep up with, and in some cases exceed the capabilities of the newer generation iPods. The iPod classic can download full length movies and videos, something that some of the shiny new iPod models just cannot do.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the movies you want to add to your iPod classic. The iTunes store allows you to download movies directly onto your iPod classic. You can also load personal DVDs directly onto your iPod classic.

    • 2

Plug your iPod classic into a USB port on your computer. Access the iTunes website and follow the prompts to download your selected movies directly into your iPod. Movies will port from the iTunes site into your iPod classic and you will not need to take any further action, unless you are also downloading personal DVDs into your iPod classic.

    • 3

Download any personal movies that you wish to have on your iPod classic onto your computer. Each video must be placed in a central folder that is accessible from your desktop.

    • 4

Log into your iTunes account. Choose the option titled "Add file to iTunes" to allow your newly created folder to be imported into your iTunes program.

    • 5

Plug your iPod classic into a USB port on your computer. Click on the file you just created containing the movies you wish to upload to your iPod classic and drag that file icon to the spot where the iPod icon appears. This will begin the syncing process, during which your movies will loaded onto your iPod classic. When syncing is complete, the iPod icon will reappear. You may then safely unplug your iPod classic.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never unplug your iPod during the downloading or syncing process. This can cause your movies to be lost or can damage files on your computer or iPod classic.
