How to Repair Gateway Settings

Restoring the factory settings on a Gateway computer returns your system back to its initial state. Restoring the factory settings is necessary in cases when you want to clean up all the junk on your system. Gateway has features that allow you to restore the factory settings at any given time.

Instructions

      Press the Windows key and click "All Programs." Open "Gateway" and select "Gateway Recovery Management." Click "Restore" and choose "Restore system to factory default."

      Confirm the restoration and click "Start." Enter your password if the prompt appears, and click "OK" in the "Confirm Restoration" box. Allow your system to reboot.

      Click "Next" at the "Restore from factory" and "Destination Disk Information" boxes. Click "OK" to create a hard-drive partition. Click "OK" again. Allow your system to reboot.

      Click "Next" in the "Set up Windows" prompt. Agree to the license terms and click "Next." Enter your information at the username screen. Click "Next."

      Enter the computer name information and click "Next." Select "Use recommended settings" in the "Help protect Windows" prompt.

      Set the time and date at the next prompt, and click "Next." Enter your location at the next prompt. Click "Start" in the "Thank You" prompt. Allow the restoration to complete and reboot your computer. Your Gateway is back to its factory settings.
