How do I Put Together a Marcy Platinum Weight Machine?
The Marcy Platinum Home Gym is a multipurpose weight machine designed to target multiple areas of the body during a workout. It features a single-weight stack system that allows for different weight resistance when working your legs, arms, back and core. With multiple area systems in the same machine, it will give a rider a variety of exercises to strength and tone muscles.
Instructions
-
Main Frame Structure with Rear Weight System
-
1
Assemble two guide rods by pressing two rubber bumpers onto the ends of the guide rods and securing the guide rods in the two holes on the rear stabilizer with a bolt from the bottom.
-
2
Bolt the vertical frame to the main base frame in the center two holes, using two bolts through a bracket under the main base frame.
-
-
3
Attach the end bracket on the main base frame to the center of the rear stabilizer with bolts through a bracket on the back of the rear stabilizer.
-
4
Assemble the rear weight unit by placing nine weight plates onto the guide rods with the deep grooves on the plates facing down and back. Slide the selector rod down into the center opening of the weight plates, pressing the weight-selector stem plate through the guide rod and inserting the weight plate selector pin into the selector rod to select the amount of weight for use.
-
5
Attach the upper frame onto the machine structure by bolting the T-shaped end of the upper frame with the two guide rods and bolting the center two holes with the vertical frame.
-
6
Bolt the stopper frame bracket to the vertical frame through the side holes on the top third of the vertical frame.
-
7
Connect the rear lower pulley system to the main frame by bolting the low pulley base frame to the right side of the rear main base frame with a bracket on the left side of the main base frame.
-
8
Bolt the butterfly base to the upper frame through the front two holes on the upper frame and to the stopper frame through the two holes on the end of the stopper frame.
-
9
Connect the seat to the machine by bolting the seat support frame to the main base frame through the forward side hole on the main base frame and to the vertical support through the lower two holes with a bracket on the back of the vertical support. Bolting the seat pad to the seat post through the two end holes by sliding the seat post into the seat support frame bracket and locking the seat post, using the lock pin in the hole on the seat support frame bracket.
-
10
Connect the butterfly pulley bracket to the back side of the vertical frame with a bolt through the center hole on the butterfly pulley bracket and the upper hole on the vertical frame.
-
11
Connect a swivel pulley bracket to each side of the butterfly pulley bracket with a bolt through the top hole of the butterfly pulley bracket. The swivel pulley brackets should curve toward the vertical frame.
-
12
Bolt the backrest to the vertical frame through the center two holes on the backrest. The backrest should face the seat cushion.
-
13
Bolt the leg developer to the front bracket on the seat support frame, using a leg-developer axle and two bolts on each side.
-
14
Connect the padded leg developer by sliding the foam tube halfway through the opening at the bottom of the leg developer and pushing the foam rolls and end caps onto each end of the tube.
The Presses
-
15
Bolt the right and left front presses together by sliding the right front press into the left front press at the base until the two holes align, inserting bolts through the top of the two holes and securing the bolts with washers and nuts.
-
16
Attach the handles to the right and left front presses by bolting them to the the inside of the top two holes on both the right and left front presses.
-
17
Connect the right and left front presses to the main base frame through the side holes directly behind the vertical frame. The front presses should curve upward and toward the rear weight system.
-
18
Slide the axle on the top of the right and left butterfly press through the right and left openings on the butterfly base until the holes align with the hole in a lock ring and the bolt will slide through the axle and the lock ring.
-
19
Secure the foam roles by sliding the butterfly large foam rolls onto the ends of the right and left butterfly press arms and snap into the ends a roll end cap.
Cable Loop Systems
-
20
Attach the front and back upper frame pulleys by bolting them through the side onto the upper frame.
-
21
Thread the upper cable through the front opening on the upper frame with the ball stopper underneath the frame, over the front pulley and down the back pulley.
-
22
Connect a pulley to the cable by threading the cable under a pulley and bolting two pulley bushings to the center of the pulley. The cable should never cross over itself.
-
23
Secure the lower back pulley by threading the upper cable over another pulley and bolting it to the lower rear bracket of the upper frame. The cable should not cross over itself and should fall between the two guide rods.
-
24
Connect the cable to the selector rod by threading the head bolt on the upper cable to the selector rod.
-
25
Attach the lat bar from the center bracket to the cable at the front of the upper frame with a hook, a short chain and another hook.
-
26
Assemble the butterfly-cable loop by snapping one end of the butterfly cable to the right butterfly arm, threading the cable over a pulley, bolting the pulley to the right swivel pulley bracket, under and up a hanging pulley, over another pulley, bolting the other pulley to the left swivel pulley bracket, and snapping the other end of the butterfly cable to the left butterfly arm.
-
27
Bolt an angled double floating pulley bracket to the center of the hanging bracket in the butterfly cable loop.
-
28
Connect the lower cable to the lower pulley base frame by threading the cable under a pulley with the cable stop on the outside of the lower pulley base and bolting the pulley to the lower pulley base frame through the center holes.
-
29
Connect the lower upper frame pulley by threading the lower cable up and over another pulley and bolting it through the bracket on the underside of the upper frame.
-
30
Attach a hanging pulley system to the lower cable by threading the cable under a pulley and securing the pulley to a single floating pulley bracket.
-
31
Secure a lower cable pulley to the double floating pulley bracket previously attached to the upper cable by threading the lower cable over a pulley and bolting the pulley to the middle hole of the double floating pulley bracket. You may bolt the pulley through the top or lower holes on the double-floating-pulley bracket to change the tension of the cable systems.
-
32
Connect a lower cable pulley to the main base frame by threading the lower cable under a pulley and bolting it to the back bracket of the main base frame. The lower cable should never cross itself.
-
33
Thread the lower cable from the back main frame pulley toward the front of the machine through the openings at the base of the vertical frame, lower cable alignment bracket and the base of the seat frame.
-
34
Bolt a small pulley wheel through the side holes in the seat frame so that the pulley is over the lower cable and inside the opening at the base of the seat frame.
-
35
Bolt the end of the lower cable to the bracket toward the bottom of the leg-developer bar.
-
36
Attach the shiver bar, the shiver bar with single handle or the ankle strap, depending on the exercise desired, to the lower cable end located at the lower pulley base frame using a hook, a long chain and another hook.
-
37
Assemble the front of the front press-cable loop by bolting the front press cable to the small tube at the base of the vertical frame, threading the front press cable under and over a pulley, bolting the pulley to the outside of the right pulley bracket on the front press, threading the front press cable around a pulley from right to left, bolting the pulley horizontally in the lower pulley bracket on the vertical frame, threading the front press cable over and under a pulley, and bolting the pulley to the outside of the left pulley bracket on the front press. The front press cable should never cross itself.
-
38
Assemble the back of the front press cable loop by continuing to thread the end of the front press cable toward the rear of the machine under a pulley, bolting the pulley to the left side of the vertical frame, threading the front press cable up and over a pulley, bolting the pulley to the bottom of the angled double-floating pulley-bracket previously attached in the the butterfly-cable loop, threading the front press cable under and up a pulley, bolting the pulley to the front pulley bracket on the rear of the main frame, and bolting the end of the front press cable to the single-floating-pulley bracket previously attached in the lower cable loop.
