How to Set Up Wireless Speakers

There are two main elements that make up a wireless speaker system. There's a transmitter, which is connected to an audio output of the device you're connecting the speakers to, and there are the speakers, which receive the signal that is being sent from the transmitter. In addition, a set of wireless speakers will come with several different types of connecting cables, so you can connect to different types of audio outputs. If you're considering setting up wireless speakers, you won't have to worry about purchasing these separately, since all the elements will be included when you purchase a set of wireless speakers.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the transmitter into an audio output of the device you're connecting to. It's best to use a set of preamp outputs. These will be located on the rear of the device and will be labeled "audio out." Typically, this will be a pair of RCA jacks. Push the plugs of the transmitter's cables into this output.

    • 2

Plug the transmitter's power cord or power transformer into a wall jack or power strip. Turn on the transmitter with its power switch.

    • 3

Place your wireless speakers in the position you've chosen. Plug the speakers into a power outlet or power strip. Turn on the speakers.

    • 4

Turn on your music source. While the music is playing, adjust the output knob on the transmitter until the indicator light on the transmitter flickers intermittently.

    • 5

Adjust the tuning knob on the wireless speakers until the signal from the transmitter comes in clearly and without distortion.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wireless speakers have a limited range. If you cannot pick up a signal, try repositioning the speakers.
