How to Drain a Krups Espresso Machine?
Luigi Bezzera invented the espresso machine in 1903, according to a University of Scranton website. Espresso means "fast" in Italian, and the espresso machine makes fast coffee in a pressurized container. Krups makes several different kinds of Espresso machines and they work on the same basic principle, so cleaning and draining these machines is easy. Does this Spark an idea?

Turn off and unplug the Krups espresso machine before attempting to drain or clean. Do not immerse the machine in water and do not let it sit in water.

Open the lid and remove the water tank. Empty the tank after each use.

Empty the drain tray by removing the stainless grid from the black plastic and the drain tray will be exposed and removable. It should pull out from under the unit. The presence of water is normal in the drip tray.

Wipe the drain tray with a cloth or paper towels to absorb any liquid remaining. According to the Krups instruction manual, clean the drain or drip tray with water and a non-abrasive detergent.

Rinse and dry the drain tray and replace it and the stainless grid. Most of these trays slide in and out.
