How to Access Query to Show the Last 18 Months thumbnail
Querying an Access database by time frame is a simple task.

Part of the Microsoft Office Professional Suite, Microsoft Access is an application used to create databases. Access databases consist of tables containing data records. Access has commands to create a query based off table data. Running a query to see select information, such as data within an 18-month time frame, is accomplished using the sort and filter functions.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Access, and click the table containing the data you wish to query from the left navigation pane.

    • 2

Set up your query by selecting the "Query Wizard" button found on the "Create" tab. Select "Simple Query Wizard" from the New Query window, and click "OK".

    • 3

Choose the table you wish to query from the drop-down menu. Then from the "Available Fields" drop-down menu, select the fields you wish to query. Choose the fields that include dates.

    • 4

Name your query and click "Finish." Your query results will automatically open as a new window.

    • 5

Complete a sort based on date by highlighting the column in the query containing dates. From the "Home" tab, choose "Selection" from the "Sort and Filter" group. Choose "Between" from the drop-down menu, and input your desired 18-month range in the "Oldest" and "Newest" fields. For example, enter 1/1/09 as the oldest date and 7/1/10 as the newest date to get the 18-month range from that period. Click "OK," and your query will display only records found between those dates.
