How to Fix a Broken Nintendo DS Lite
The Nintendo DS Lite is the second generation DS hand-held console, featuring larger screens and a smaller overall size than the original model. While many issues that may arise with your Nintendo DS Lite will require a full repair of the hand-held by either a Nintendo authorized dealer or similar service, there are a few common troubleshooting suggestions that should be tried before seeking repairs.

1
Check the game cartridge you are trying to use for dirt or foreign debris. If the game card has been contaminated, it may not function correctly when inserted into the Nintendo DS.
-
2
Try playing your game in a different Nintendo DS Lite system. If the game does not play on either system, the issue is likely the cartridge and not the hand-held.

3
Recalibrate the touch screen by selecting "Settings" on the main DS menu. Select the orange cross-hairs icon to start the recalibration process. If your touchpad isn't calibrated correctly you may experience issues when trying to control Nintendo DS games.
-
4
Recharge your Nintendo DS Lite by plugging it into the nearest wall outlet and leaving it for 30--45 minutes. If the system battery is empty, you will be unable to play any DS games until it has been recharged.
-
5
Ensure that you are attempting to play a Nintendo DS Lite compatible game. The DS Lite can play Game Boy Advance and DS games but is not capable of playing original Game Boy or Game Boy Color titles.
