How to Clean Rollers on a Folding Machine
Paper folding machines provide a precise, professional folding job for brochures and other documents. The equipment is an expensive investment, so you will want to take proper care of it. This includes cleaning the rollers from time to time. With frequent use, the rollers can accumulate ink, dust and other substances that build up a slippery finish on the rubber rollers. As a result, papers can slip and cause the folding machine to jam or perform poorly. Regularly cleaning the rollers prevents these problems as well as costly technician visits. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Turn off your paper folding machine and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.
-
2
Take off the plastic housing covering the rubber rollers. Remove the rollers, if your model allows you to do so. Consult the manual for your specific folding machine model to find out how best to remove these components.
-
-
3
Apply rubber roller cleaner to a folded paper towel and rub it onto the rollers until they are saturated with the cleaner. Be careful not to drip the solution on other parts of the folding machine.
-
4
Rub the rollers firmly with a clean synthetic kitchen scouring pad. Wipe immediately with a clean cotton towel to absorb any drips and pick up the residue cleaned from the rollers.
-
5
Turn the rollers manually a little bit and clean the newly exposed portion of the rollers in the same way. Continue turning the rollers and cleaning the exposed areas until the entire surface of all the rollers is clean. Wipe the roller drive shaft with the cotton towel if the shafts are exposed.
-
6
Replace the rollers and plastic folder machine housing. Let the machine dry for about 30 minutes before using it. This gives the rollers a chance to dry completely.

Tips & Warnings
You can use warm, soapy water instead of rubber roller cleaner. The procedure is the same.
Schedule regular roller cleaning maintenance for your paper folder to avoid major buildup. How often you should clean the folding machine depends on how much you use it.
Clean rubber rollers in printers, fax machines and other paper-handling devices in the same way.
Never open or clean a paper folding machine if it is plugged into the wall. You could receive an electric shock.
