Topsy Turvy Planter Instructions

A Topsy Turvy is a popular planter available on infomercials and in many different stores that carry infomercial items. The Topsy Turvy allows people that do not have much space for a garden to plant edibles such as tomatoes and strawberries. Instructions

    • 1

Screw in the screw eye where you want to hang your Topsy Turvy. Screw the screw eye into something solid, such as wood. Spread multiple screw eyes about 18 inches apart for best results.

    • 2

Mix the fertilizer and the soil together well. Use a time released fertilizer for best results and continuous feeding throughout the growing season.

    • 3

Remove the lid and push the split sponge that comes with your Topsy Turvy planter into the bag.

    • 4

Remove your seedling from its container. Insert the root end of the seedling into the bag. Work from the outside of the bag to the inside to put your plant in the proper position for growing in the Topsy Turvy.

    • 5

Insert the stem of the seedling carefully into the split of the sponge just under the first set of leaves.

    • 6

Hang the Topsy Turvy about waist high, temporarily.

    • 7

Fill the Topsy Turvy with soil using a small plastic cup. Fill from the top end of the bag until the bag is almost full. Leave only about 2 inches of space between the soil and the top of the bag.

    • 8

Put the lid back on the bag and hang it up in its permanent location.

    • 9

Sprinkle some water on the soil from the top of the bag. Sprinkle approximately 1 gallon of water from the top of the bag to thoroughly soak the soil. Water slowly so you do not damage your root system or allow the soil to run out of the bag.

    • 10

      Water your plants often.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can plant more than one seedling in your Topsy Turvy if you desire, but no more than two plants per bag.

  • Do not try to hang your Topsy Turvy plant hanger from sheet rock or other soft material. The weight of a mature plant with fruit is very heavy.
