How to Clean a Cool Mist Vaporizer
Technically, a vaporizer emits warm mist and a humidifier emits cool mist, but the terms are often used interchangeably, with only the temperature to clarify a difference. A cool mist vaporizer, or humidifier, can alleviate the discomforts of chapped lips, dry skin and dry throat in climates with low levels of natural humidity; however, mist from a dirty appliance can be dangerous to your health. The Mayo Clinic website reports that dirty mist releases airborne allergens and bacteria that can worsen asthma, create flu-like symptoms in healthy people, and even cause lung infections. The Mayo Clinic recommends cleaning your cool mist appliance every three days when in use. Does this Spark an idea?
