How to Change Temperature Shutdown in the BIOS on an Asus P6T

Asus P6T is a LGA 1366 socket motherboard that supports Intel Core i7 processors. The system setup (BIOS) on this Asus motherboard includes an overheat protection. It shuts down the computer automatically if the CPU temperature exceeds a certain limit. Such a situation can, for example, arise if cooling fans do not properly work on your computer or the CPU was significantly overclocked. Use the "Hardware Monitor" menu in BIOS to change the shutdown temperature.

Restart the computer containing the Asus M4A78T-E motherboard.

Press the "Delete" key to enter BIOS when you see the message "Press DEL to enter Setup."

Use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to select the menu "Power" in the BIOS and then press "Enter."

Use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to select the option "Hardware Monitor" and press "Enter."

Select the option "TEMP Overheat Protection" and press "Enter."

Select the desired temperature value from the list and press "Enter." Note that the available temperatures are in the range from 50 to 90 degree Celsius.

Press "F10" on the keyboard to save changes in BIOS.

Tips

If you overclock your computer, you may need to set the overheat temperature limit near the maximum allowed value for the CPU to prevent unnecessary system shutdowns. For example, if the maximum allowed temperature for your CPU is 75 degree Celsius, then choose the shutdown temperature in BIOS as high as 70 degrees.
