Excel 2007 and the entire Office 2007 suite of products are major upgrades over earlier versions of the program. Excel 2007 provides users with a wealth of options and many ways to customize the menus, icons and display options within the program. While many of these changes can make Excel 2007 more useful and more powerful, others will not be as effective. If you find that the changes you have made make working with Excel 2007 more difficult, you can always go back to the default settings for the program.

Instructions

  1. Tools Menu

      Log on to your computer and open Microsoft Excel 2007. Open a blank spreadsheet.

      Click on the "Tools" menu. Choose "Customize" from the list of options.

      Right-click on the menu you want to restore to its default settings. Choose "Reset" to restore the menu to its original default settings.

    Help Menu

      Open Excel 2007. Click on the "Help" menu.

      Choose the "Detect and Repair" option. Check the "Restore my shortcuts while repairing" check box.

    • 6

      Click "Start" to begin the repair process. Repairing Excel 2007 will bring it back to its original configuration.
