Listen to MP3 files from your computer

MPEG III audio files (MP3s) are all over the Internet. Generally in the form of music, these files compress ordinary audio to a much smaller size, allowing faster downloads and MP3 player capability. Online stores offer a large selection of songs for sampling and for purchase. If your computer has sound, you should have no problem finding MP3s to listen to or download.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit iTunes or any online music store to check out an enormous selection of MP3 files. Usually, they allow you to sample a given song for approximately 30 seconds to help you determine if you would like to purchase the song. Each song is listed beside a small icon that has a picture of a sound device or the word "Listen." Clicking on it will start the play.

Visit official sites. When you go to the official site of a particular musical group, they almost always have a few samples of songs that will loop or play briefly. You can usually buy the album from the site as well or find where it is available.

Purchase the album from a store and upload it to your computer. You can convert it to an MP3 yourself through iTunes or Microsoft Media Player. To do this, launch the program you wish to use, insert the disc into your disc player and choose "Rip." Once ripped, right-click on each file and if not already converted, choose "Convert to MP3."
