Organize the computer cables by thickness and use the twist ties to bind them into compact bundles. Put them all in a single bag, or if you have more than a bag's worth, put all the thickest cables in one bag, all the thinnest in another, and so forth.

Go to the EPA's recycling page for information on finding recycling venues near you. Earth911 has a searchable database of recycling centers Type in your zip code or address and click "Search," and Earth911 will bring up local recycling centers that take electronics and computer components. (See Resources.)

Call the recycling center for details. Arrange a pickup at your home, or take the cables to the recycling center. Usually, they will make a pickup for a larger number of items, so check with friends, family and co-workers and have them give you any cables they've been meaning to recycle.
