1
Tape off all of the baseboards and trim in the room. Use the painter's tape around windows and outlets before priming and painting.
-
2
Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the lid of the primer, and stir the primer well. Pour it into one of the paint trays. Using the paint roller, cover the entire room with two coats of primer, waiting approximately one hour between coats.

Use a new paint roller and paint pan. Use the screwdriver to remove the lid of the paint, and stir the paint well. Pour the paint into a paint tray. Cover the entire room with two coats of your main paint color, waiting again about an hour between coats.
-
4
Allow the base color to dry for about 24 hours.
-
5
Decide on the size of the polka dots you'd like to paint on the wall. Look through dishes to find a round template, such as a mixing bowl, plate, cup or anything else that's the size you desire.
-
6
Use your round template, and trace around it with a pencil to get perfect circle shapes. Continue placing your polka dots all over the walls in a random manner.
-
7
Fill in your polka dots with paint using an angled paint brush. Several coats of paint may be necessary. Use different colors for a more fun look. If you don't like the appearance of brush strokes, use small roller instead, and touch up the edges of the dots with a brush.
-
8
Allow paint to dry thoroughly. Remove tape from outlets and trim.
