How to Build an Ozark Trail Screen House thumbnail
Screen houses allow campers to enjoy the fresh air without the annoyance of mosquitoes.

Enjoying the outdoors is a favorite summer pastime for many people. Some people find that having a screen house to protect them from direct sunlight and insects accentuates their overall outdoor experience. Ozark Trail's screen house is an inexpensive option; however, the durability and design of the product have come under scrutiny in many consumer reviews. Building this screen house can be difficult for one person to do alone; so, it is recommended for three or four people to set it up together.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay all the parts and poles on the ground. Make the three roof supports by connecting three 2B poles and one 2 pole together for each roof support.

    • 2

Put a "T" connector piece on both ends of one roof support. This support will be the center or peak of the screen house. Put one "L" and one "R" connector piece on either end of the other two roof supports. These supports will be the left and right side roof supports.

    • 3

Make four roof angle supports for the outside frame by connecting one 1B pole to one 1 pole. Insert these into the "T," "L" and "R" connector pieces between the roof supports to create the pitch in the roof.

    • 4

Connect a 5B pole to the 5 pole to make the side slope support for the roof. Build two of these and hook them in the center of the top roof support and the sides.

    • 5

Make the four legs by connecting two 1B poles and one 4 pole for each leg. Insert the 1B end into the roof connectors so that the 4 pole is touching the ground.

    • 6

Drape the screen over the top of the pole frame and line it up. Insert the "S" hooks on the screen to the holes in the 4 pole near the ground to secure the screen to the pole frame. Wrap any Velcro straps on the screen around the pole frame. Use the hammer to stake the screen house into the ground with the provided stakes.

    • 7

Tie the guy lines to the corners of the roof. Pull them taut and away from the screen house. Stake them to the ground.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check to make sure you have all necessary parts before beginning.

  • Make sure the three holes in the 4 poles for the legs are nearest to the ground.

  • Take down your screen house if wind or storms are forecast to avoid damaging it.
