Comb your dry hair with a wide-toothed comb. Work with hair that has not been washed or conditioned for at least 24 hours.

Clip your hair into sections and clip to the top of your head. Leave the underneath portion down. This is where you will apply the marker first.

3
Put on latex gloves to avoid staining your hands, and comb a small section of hair.
-
4
Remove the lid from a marker and, starting at the roots, pull the marker down the strands of hair. Repeat until the entire section of hair is colored.
-
5
Grab a section of hair from the clipped hair pieces that is above the one you just colored and repeat the process. Work from the hair at the lowest part of the scalp to the top, and from the back of the head to the front. Continue until your hair is completely dyed.
