Always replace a headlight if it burns out.

The 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a mid-size sport utility vehicle. Once a headlight bulb burns out, replacement is essential, since a missing headlight bulb can shorten visibility. Changing the headlight bulb is slightly complicated as it involves pulling the grille and the headlight assembly out of the front of the truck. Always determine which headlight is burned out before starting.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. This will also provide easy access to the grille for removal.

    • 2

Slowly pull the grille away from the truck. Eight clips hold the grille in place. Use caution when pulling so the grille does not crack.

    • 3

Pull the two metal clips on top of the headlight assembly to release the headlight assembly. Pull the headlight assembly away from the truck and rest it on the fender.

    • 4

Pull the rubber boot off the back of the headlight assembly by hand. This will expose the wiring connector as it goes in to the back of the assembly.

    • 5

Pull the wiring connector out of the assembly by lifting the locking tab and pulling the socket away from the headlight assembly.

    • 6

Turn the socket counter-clockwise and and pull it out of the assembly. Replace with the new socket. Screw it in clockwise to lock it in place.

    • 7

Plug in the electrical connector. The connector will lock in place once it is pushed in far enough.

    • 8

Place the rubber boot around the opening. Ensure it is in the same position as when it was removed.

    • 9

Push the headlight assembly back to the truck. It will lock in place once it is pushed in far enough.

    • 10

Push the grille back on. Ensure the clips line up to the front of the truck. Push it on until it locks in place.

    • 11

Turn the headlights on to ensure they are working properly. Close the hood.

Tips & Warnings
