Pomegranate juice contains many nutrients and has beneficial health properties.

Pomegranates have been part of the symbolic and culinary culture of the Caucasus and Middle East since ancient times. Instructions

    • 1

Fill the bowl with cold water, and set it aside.

    • 2

Cut the pomegranate into quarters. Submerge one of the pieces underwater and pull the seeds out of the white flesh, allowing pieces of the white flesh to float to the top while the seeds sink. Repeat this process with the other three pieces, pausing occasionally to skim the pith off the top.

    • 3

Drain the liquid from the seeds through a strainer. Pick out any remaining pieces of pith that might be among the seeds.

    • 4

Pour the seeds into a food processor and blend on high until a thick pulp is formed.

    • 5

Hold the cheesecloth over the bowl and pour the pulp into it. Press the cloth with your hands to squeeze out any remaining juice. Pour the juice into the container and store in the fridge for three days at most.

Tips & Warnings

  • Blend the juice with ice and yogurt to make a smoothie.

  • Simmer the juice in a saucepan on the stove on medium until reduced by half to make a sweet sauce.
