How to Turn Off Bluetooth on a Toshiba Qosmio

Bluetooth technology allows your Toshiba Qosmio to communicate wirelessly with external devices such as headphones, mice and keyboards. The downside of keeping your Bluetooth enabled is that it can drain your battery, resulting in shorter times between charges. You must also turn off your Bluetooth capabilities in certain situations, such as on airplanes or in locations where the wireless signal might interfere with other sensitive equipment. Toshiba computers locate your Bluetooth settings within a special folder in your programs list; from there, you can disable your Bluetooth.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold down the "Fn" key on your keyboard until the Toshiba Application Cards appear on your screen. These are small rectangles with various icons.

    • 2

Click the card on the far right, called the "Stacked" card, and release the "Fn" key. The "Stacked" card will be a different color than the other cards. Clicking it launches a new menu of cards.

    • 3

Double-click the card with the Bluetooth symbol to launch the Bluetooth settings window.

    • 4

Select "Bluetooth" in the upper left corner of the settings window, and then click "Options."

    • 5

Click the "General" tab and locate the "Bluetooth status" area. Click the button in this box.

    • 6

Click "OK" and close the Bluetooth settings window.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can re-enable the Bluetooth at any time by repeating the process.
