How to Upgrade PHP for Windows

The PHP scripting language operates on Windows by making use of the Microsoft Web Platform Installer, which integrates it into the system and its web services. Using the Web Platform Installer will condense installation and upgrades into a single click that performs all configuration tasks for a Microsoft environment. You can upgrade PHP from the Web Platform Installer interface or from the Microsoft PHP website.

  Visit the Resources link below and obtain the Web Platform Installer by clicking the green "Install Now" button and running the downloaded file.

  Double-click the installer set-up file to run it. Accept its license agremeent and click "Next" to begin the installation process.

  Launch the Web Platform Installer's website and click the "click here to install" link. You will be prompted to upgrade if the latest version is newer than the one available. Click "OK" to begin updating the installer. This may break functionality on older applications that do not fully support the newest PHP versions.
