Listen to music on the move with your Sony Walkman.

The Sony Walkman NWZ-E436F MP3 player features a 4GB memory, pre-loaded custom digital content, FM radio and a two-inch color LCD screen. Sony is one of the world's largest manufacturers of consumer electronics, and their products are considered sturdy and reliable. However, as with most audio players, glitches can occur. Whether it is a problem with the battery or a player that needs to be reset, the fixes are relatively easy. There are a few basic troubleshooting steps you can take before you need to have a technician check out your Walkman.

Instructions

    • 1

Reset the player if it is not functioning as expected. Turn off the player and insert a small pin into the reset button hole at the top rear, right-hand side of the unit. After resetting, turn the player on. The previously set items will be reactivated. Previously set data and settings on the player may be deleted if the player is reset during operation.

    • 2

If there is no sound, adjust the volume control at the side of the player. If using a headphone, make sure it is securely plugged into the unit.

    • 3

Connect the player to a running computer to charge the battery if no data is played. Connect the player and computer with a USB cable and allow approximately four hours for the battery to fully charge.

    • 4

Delete unnecessary data if the available capacity is insufficient and transferred data is not displayed in the list.

    • 5

Place audio files in folders under the MUSIC folder by dragging and dropping them if some songs do not appear when you select "Folder."

    • 6

Keep away from devices such as mobile phones if noise is generated when using the player.

    • 7

Allow a few hours for the player to dry if condensation has formed within the unit and the buttons do not work. This phenomenon can occur when there is a sudden change in temperature. Also, try sliding the "HOLD" switch in the opposite direction to unlock the Hold. The buttons should now be responsive.

    • 8

Disable AVLS (Volume Limit) if the volume is not loud enough. Press and hold the "BACK/HOME" button until the Home menu appears. Press the arrow buttons to select "Settings," then press the "OK/PLAY" button, in the center of the five-way button, to confirm. Next, press the arrow buttons to select "Common Settings," then press the "OK/PLAY" button to confirm. When "Common Settings" options appear, press the arrows to select "AVLS" and press the OK/PLAY button to confirm. Lastly, press the arrows to select "OFF."
