How to Update a FAFSA Application

The Free Application For Federal Student Aid should be filled out by every eligible student attempting to attend a college or university. The FAFSA is received and reviewed by the Federal Student Aid, an office of the United States Department of Education. The FAFSA is also received and reviewed by colleges and universities a student has applied for admission to. If you submit any incorrect information, you can still correct and update your FAFSA--even after it has already been processed.

Instructions

1. Visit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid homepage.

2. Click on "Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA," located under the "FAFSA Follow-Up" section. If you need to add or remove schools, click on "Add or Delete a School Code," also located under the "FAFSA Follow-Up" section.

3. Select the school year of your filed FAFSA application.

4. Enter your Social Security number, last name, first name, date of birth, FAFSA pin number and password.

5. Correct or update any incorrect pieces of information.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not update your financial information. If your financial information has changed, contact your school directly.
