How to Make & Design Anniversary Cards to Print

Instead of an unoriginal, generic anniversary card this year, try showing your love with your own words by designing and making your own anniversary cards. Making your own anniversary card for your significant other, parents or other loved ones provides you with a personalized greeting and a chance to tell your loved ones how you love and appreciate them. You can make your own anniversary card designs in less than an hour using your computer and print in less time than it takes to pick out a card at the store.

Things You'll Need

  • Microsoft Word
  • Printer
  • Printer ink

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Word on your computer and set the page orientation to landscape. This allows you to make a single-fold card that measures nearly 6 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall. To do this, click on “File,” scroll down to “Page Setup” and change the orientation on the screen that pops up.

    • 2

Add text and pictures to the right half of the page to decorate and embellish the front of the card. Add your message first and adjust the style and size of the font as necessary to fit into the space. Place decorations and embellishments around the text and avoid covering the words. Attempt to choose anniversary themed images and decorations like outlines of couples, hearts, rings, wedding bells and other wedding, love and anniversary images.

    • 3

Scroll down or hit enter to create a second page on the Microsoft Word document. Use this page to create the interior of the card. Type a personal message instead of a generic greeting card message.

    • 4

Type your message first and then adjust the font size and style as necessary. If you want to, you may place your message on the right side of the card to prevent ink from bleeding through onto the front of the card during the printing process.

    • 5

Place a single piece of card stock into your printer tray and remove all other pieces of paper or card stock. Print the first page of the document, turn the card stock over or around and print the second page.

    • 6

Fold the card in half lengthwise so that the front of the card sits right-side up and the card opens on the left-hand side. If you cannot do this, you may need to reprint the document so you can fold the card in this fashion.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may change the size and shape of the anniversary card as desired.

  • Depending on your printer and how paper feeds into your printer, you may need to follow a specific pattern when printing on the front and back of a single sheet of paper to create a greeting card.
