How to Make a Tailgate Tumbler

A little hot toddy might take some of the chill out of the autumn air during your tailgate party before the football game. This recipe yields 8 cups.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 6 c. grapefruit juice
  • 2 tbsp. superfine sugar
  • 1/2 c. whiskey
  • Thermoses
  • Groceries
  • Liquor
  • Saucepans
  • Saucepans
  1. Step 1

    Mix sugar, cinnamon stick, whole cloves and 6 c. grapefruit juice in a saucepan.

  2. Step 2

    Over a low flame, heat slowly until steaming, then simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Remove from heat.

  4. Step 4

    Add 1/2 c. whiskey if you choose.

  5. Step 5

    Strain into mugs and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • For the game, put into an insulated thermos and enjoy at halftime.
  • You can substitute orange juice for grapefruit juice - the drink will be sweeter.
  • Drink in moderation and have a designated driver for after the party.
