- Cardboard circle or tray
- Baby bottle
- Baby socks
- Rubber bands
- Double-sided tape

Open one disposable diaper so it lies flat. Roll it up in jellyroll style and secure it with a rubber band. Alternately, open a cloth diaper, fold it three times to make a long strip and then roll it up in jellyroll fashion. Continue to roll and band plastic or cloth diapers until you have 50 completed jellyrolls. Cut a 16-inch round cardboard circle or find a comparably-sized tray to act as the base of the diaper cake.

Imagine a three-tiered wedding cake so you understand how the diaper cake is to take shape. Build the base layer first. Stand the diaper rolls on end and tape or rubber band 25 of the cloth or plastic jellyrolls together so they form a round cake layer. Ask a friend to help, holding diapers in place as you tape and band the base, anchoring it to the tray or circle with tape.
