Instructions

Decorate the outside of your house with bales of hay. Leave some of the bales intact while spreading some of the others around the yard. If you own a sawhorse place it out in the yard and put a saddle on it to add to the effect.

Print out a banner using a copy center or your own computer to label your house as a ranch or saloon. The banner can read something like "Welcome to the Smithfield Ranch!" Place the banner over the door to your house or the entrance to your party.

Purchase cacti, cowboy party hats, lassos, bandannas and other Western-themed decorations and place them on the tables and walls of your party area. These items are especially well-suited for the background of any Western-themed pictures that you will take. Provide enough party hats and bandannas for every guest at the party if you can.

Using your word processor or a desktop publishing program, create some "Wanted" posters with your friends' faces in them. The posters should have the words "Wanted" printed at the top, a big picture in the middle and a reward listed at the bottom. Print the pictures in sepia-toned colors to give them a real Western feel. Place the posters on the walls throughout the party.

Place red and white checkered tablecloths on all of the tables. Purchase solid red and white napkins and Wild West themed party plates. As a centerpiece for the tables use a big sheriff's badge attached to a large cactus.

    • 6

Purchase some small plastic horseshoes and use them as seating cards for the party. Use a permanent marker to write the guests' names. Make sure to include a Western-themed nickname on each like "Ted 'Old Tex' Taylor."

    • 7

Add any additional decorations you wish to include like Western themed balloons, cactus shot glasses and piñatas.
