Instructions

  1. Message in a Bottle

    • 1

Soak one-liter plastic beverage bottles in water to loosen the labels. Pull the labels off and rub off as much sticky residue as possible.

    • 2

Type the party information into a word processing program on the computer. Include a heading at the top of the paper that tells guests who the party is for and what the occasion is. For example, you could type, "Splish, splash, it's Billy's 9th birthday bash!" for a child's birthday party. Below the heading, type the rest of the information, including the time, date, location, RSVP information and anything the guests need to bring, such as a swimsuit and towel.

    • 3

Format the invitation so that it takes up only a half sheet of paper and two invitations print on each page.

    • 4

Print out the sheets of invitations and cut them in half to separate the two invitations.

    • 5

Roll each invitation tight enough so it will fit through the neck of a beverage bottle. Secure the invitation rolls with a rubber band or a paper clip on each end.

    • 6

Place an invitation in each bottle. Pour a little bit of sand into each bottle and put a few small seashells in as well before screwing the lids onto the bottles.

    • 7

Hand-deliver the bottles or attach mailing labels and take them to the post office to determine the correct amount of postage.

    Beach Ball

    • 8

Inflate a small plastic beach ball for each guest you plan to invite to the pool party.

    • 9

Write the party information on each beach ball in permanent marker. You can either write all the information on one section of the beach ball or write a different piece of information on each section.

    • 10

Allow the words to dry completely while the beach balls are still inflated.

    • 11

Deflate the beach balls completely and fold them so at least some of the writing is visible.

    • 12

Put each beach ball in a manila envelope and mail to your guests. Take the invitations to the post office to make sure they have the correct amount of postage.
