Many fireplaces have brick on the wall located above the fireplace, so it's important the mount for the television be secured to the bricks with the correct type of hardware. Things You'll Need

  • Pencil
  • Drill with carbide-tipped drill bit
  • Masonry anchors
  • Rubber mallet
  • Screws
  • Screwdriver

Instructions

      Hold the mount against the wall at the position you want to install it. Mark the location of the holes on the mounting plate onto the wall with a pencil, by inserting the tip of the pencil through the holes of the mounting plate.

      Drill holes into the bricks with a carbide-tipped drill bit at the location of the mounting holes. It's important that the holes be the correct size for the masonry anchors you'll be installing in the next step, so use the size of drill specified by the anchors.

      Insert a masonry anchor into each of the holes you've drilled. Tap the anchors into the holes with a rubber mallet until they're flush with the surface of the wall.

      Hold the television mount against the wall and line up the holes of the mount with the anchors you've just installed. An assistant is useful during this and the next step.

      Insert a screw into the mount's hole and screw it into the wall anchor until the screw is completely tightened. Repeat until you've mounted a screw into every masonry anchor.
