How to Clean Teak Furniture Using Sudsy Ammonia
Teak furniture is durable and relatively low-maintenance. Although you can leave teak furniture outdoors for long periods of time without experiencing damage, the furniture will get dirty and require cleaning. Sudsy ammonia is commonly used to clean teak furniture. It effectively removes dirt, mold, mildew, and other buildup from the furniture without damaging the wood. Things You'll Need
- Large bucket
- 1 qt. sudsy ammonia
- 1/4 cup bleach-free liquid laundry detergent
- Soft scrub brush
- Garden hose
- Soft rags

Fill a large bucket with 1 qt. of warm water. Add 1 qt. of sudsy ammonia and 1/4 cup bleach-free liquid laundry detergent.

Dip a soft scrub brush into the ammonia solution. Scrub the teak furniture gently with the brush. Rinse out the brush often while scrubbing.

Rinse the furniture with water from the garden hose. Dry the furniture with a soft rag, then allow it to air-dry the rest of the way.

Tips & Warnings
Wear rubber gloves and protective eyewear when using ammonia.
Never mix ammonia and bleach, or products containing these ingredients. The fumes produced by this mixture can be fatal.
