Instructions

    • 1

Remove the doors and clean your fireplace glass at least once a year. You can clean them as needed with the doors still attached to the fireplace, but removing them and cleaning them yearly will ensure no spot is missed during cleaning.

    • 2

Fill an empty spray bottle with water. Spray a generous amount of the water onto the glass and let it sit for a few minutes.

    • 3

Scrape as much grime as you can from the glass with a razor blade. Apply a steady pressure and slide the blade slowly across the glass. Take care not to scratch the glass. Wipe the razor blade with a rag after each pass, then wipe the glass with a damp rag to remove any residue.

Mix a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water in an empty spray bottle. Spray the fireplace glass with the vinegar solution.

    • 5

Wipe the glass with a dry rag. Use a circular motion when wiping to reduce streaks.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the above cleaning method for cleaning fireplace glass yearly when it is detached from the fireplace, or on an as needed basis while the glass is still attached.

  • Ammonia is another product that can be used to clean fireplace glass. Dampen a rag with ammonia and use it to wipe down the fireplace glass. Ammonia is powerful, so wear rubber gloves and work in a well-ventilated area.

  • Avoid using abrasive cleaning products, steel wool or scouring pads. These products can easily scratch the glass.
