How to Connect My Computer to My Stereo
To connect your home computer to your stereo, use an "auxiliary" or "aux" cable, which is capable of sending digital audio transmissions between two devices. In this case, your computer would output audio information across the auxiliary cable to your home stereo, at which point you would hear the audio through the speakers connected to the stereo receiver. Does this Spark an idea?

Plug an auxiliary cable into the "Speaker" plug on your computer's sound card, which is typically on the back of the computer. The "Speaker" plug will be the one with the small image of a computer speaker above or next to it.

2
Connect the auxiliary cable's other end to the "Aux" input on your home stereo. This input is commonly found on the back of the unit, although some models may have an auxiliary input on the front of the case, next to the headphone jack. The auxiliary jack on a home stereo is a small, circular plug just large enough for the end of an auxiliary cable to fit into. It is similar in size and shape to a regular headphone jack.
