How do I Clean Kool-Aid Carpet Stains?
Although Kool-Aid looks pretty in the glass with its bright array of different colors and flavors, it is not so pretty when it spills and winds up on your carpet. Kool-Aid is known for its staining abilities, which is why it has been used for everything from dying hair crazy colors to cheap tie dye for clothes. If a brightly colored Kool-Aid stain has found its way onto your carpet, forget trying to cover it up with throw rugs, as this irritating stain is easier to remove than it looks. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Blot the area with paper towels if the stain is fresh and the area is damp to remove excess moisture. Be careful not to rub the area as this may spread the stain. Sweep as much of the liquid up as possible with a wet/dry vacuum, if you have one.
-
2
Add three to five drops of Dawn dish soap to 2 cups of warm water in a bowl, and mix it up well by stirring it up with a spoon.
-
-
3
Soak a clean white cloth in the soapy water and lay it over the stain to cover it completely.
-
4
Set an iron on "Low" on top of the cloth, directly over the stain.
-
5
Allow the iron to sit on the cloth for at least 5 minutes before lifting it up to see how much of the Kool-Aid has transferred to the cloth.
-
6
Fold the cloth in half so that you can place a clean section of the cloth onto the remaining stain, and repeat the ironing process. Repeat the process with a new cloth dipped in the soapy water as many times as necessary until the stain is gone.
-
7
Cover the dampened area with baking soda and allow it to stay there until the area is completely dry before vacuuming it up. The baking soda helps to draw moisture out of the carpet and kill lingering odors.
